What is available in our library

The university library houses over 50,000 textbooks relating to business and social work, numerous loose-leaf collections which are continually updated, over 150 specialist magazines and the most important daily and weekly newspapers. In addition to print media, it also offers extensive and varied databases. 20.000 specialised journals and 50,000 eBooks can be accessed as electronic data. A complete list of all databases is available under 'Database overview' and contains detailed descriptions. Students can, of course, avail of copiers, book scanner and PC workstations.

The library allows all those interested to research its resources online. Users can view their account online, make reservations and generate account extensions.

BSZ One Stop Search (BOSS)

BOSS represents a search engine of Bibliothekservice-Zentrum Baden-Württemberg (BSZ). BOSS offers a search by literature in the local catalogue of DHBW-VS and in the same time in catalogues of associated libraries as well as in articles.

Loan

Die Bibliothek der Hochschule ist eine öffentliche Bibliothek. Die Bibliothek ist sowohl Präsenz- als auch Leihbibliothek. 30 Bücher können zeitgleich für vier Wochen ausgeliehen werden. Falls keine Vormerkung vorliegt, ist eine Verlängerung der Leihfrist um vier Wochen bis zu 5x möglich.

Citavi

The DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen has a campus licence for Citavi literature management and knowledge organisation software. Staff and students of our university can use this powerful program in the workplace and at home for studying, teaching and research. Citavi enables you to manage all the literature you have read, research specialist databases and library catalogues, organise knowledge, collect citations and generate automatic and standardised bibliographies in different citation styles.

The university has a Citavi Team licence. This means that use of Citavi is not only restricted to personal projects. The team function allows several people to work simultaneously on a Citavi project.

Open Access

Open Access refers to free and unrestricted access to scientific documents. The aim is to make scientific publications on the Internet freely accessible to science, industry and society by providing them free of charge and as far as possible without any technical or legal hurdles.
